Im Juno 2020 habe ich mich weit­ge­hend auf die Lek­türe eng­lisch­spra­chi­ger Bücher kon­zen­triert, was nicht heißt, das es nicht auch dar­un­ter Ent­täu­schun­gen gibt. Der Come­dian Tre­vor Noah kommt aus Süd­afrika und in »Born a crime« erzählt er über seine Kind­heit, wie es ist zur Zei­ten der Apart­heid und des Ras­sis­mus als Far­bi­ger auf­zu­wach­sen. Und wie ihm seine komö­di­an­ti­schen Talente gehol­fen haben, Slums und Ghet­tos zu ent­kom­men. Ich habe darin aller­dings für mich fast nichts Neues gefun­den und er erzählt das so ster­bens­lang­wei­lig, dass ich nach rund 70% der Sei­ten auf­ge­ge­ben habe.

Tre­vor Noah is a come­dian from South Africa and in »Born a crime«, he tells us of his child­hood and his upri­sing as bee­ing colou­red. It is inte­res­t­ing of course to hear someone gro­wing up under Apart­heid in South-Africa, show­ing colo­nia­lism and racism and how his come­dian talents hel­ped him to get out of it. Howe­ver to me there was not­hing really new and the way he tells his story is so utmost bor­ing, that I gave up after approx. 70% of the pages …
